As Aloga Equestrian founder Bertram Allen prepares to compete for Team Ireland at the FEI European Showjumping Championships A Coruña in Spain, head groom Lovisa Munter talks us through her packing for the trip. Traveling with Qonquest De Rigo aka Rex, Lovisa takes us through her favorite Aloga products to ensure the gelding is comfortable and competition ready when he arrives. Here's a look at what she is packing and why these products earn their spot in her travel kit:
Aloga Pro Stable Sheet 0g
‘This would be our number one most used rug,’ Lovisa explains. The Aloga Pro Stable Sheet is constructed from 1000D ripstop polyester and is lined internally with smooth, shine enhancing fabric that is antibacterial and antistatic. This style can be easily embroidered to achieve a bespoke look by adding stable branding or horse’s individual name. ‘It’s going to be a little bit colder, especially at night so I am going to bring two of these.’
Aloga Pro Stable Blanket 100g
‘This is my absolute favourite rug in the whole world,’ Lovisa shares. ‘If its even colder when we get there we will use this at night.’ Also constructed from 1000D ripstop polyester, this blanket offers 100g of thermobonded fibre fill insulation that help retain the horse’s nature body heat and keep back and key muscle groups insulated as indoor temperatures drop overnight. ‘I love the way it sits on the horses and you can throw it on top of the Aloga Pro Stable Sheet when it gets really cold.’
Aloga Waffle Cooler
As part of competition preparation early morning schooling sessions are key. ‘Bertram will do flat work early in the morning and we will want to throw a sweat rug on. The Aloga Waffle Cooler is my favourite for rug for that,’ Lovisa describes how she used the 3D textured cooler. A firm favourite with Aloga customers this cooler efficiently wicks moisture or sweat away from the horse’s body helping as part of cool down post schooling.
Aloga Fly Sheet
Lovisa and Rex will make two stop overs as they travel from Germany to Spain. She packs the Aloga Fly Sheet for hand grassing and downtime during the trip down. ‘If I have a chance to turn Rex out or there are a lot of flies in the stable this is what I will use’.
As Bertram & Rex get ready to compete as part of Michael Blake’s Irish Senior Showjumping team, we wish him, Lovisa, Rex and all of Team Ireland the very best in A Coruña this week. Watch Lovisa’s full packing guide here.
