How do I ensure my blanket fits?

Using a soft measuring tape or a piece of string start at the centre of your horse’s chest. Run the tape along their side making sure to include their shoulder before finishing at the center point of the tail. If you are using string to measure mark the end point before comparing the length to a measuring tape to find the length in cms or inches. Once the overall length has been determined remove 10cm or 4 inches from this measurement to get the finished length and compare to our Aloga size guide.

How do I care for my Aloga horse blanket?

Gentle Washing: Your Aloga Blanket is machine washable on a gentle 30°C cycle. Non-Bio detergent only is recommended for use when washing . To maintain your blanket's quality we advise not to avoid over wash and instead opt to brush heavy dirt or hair by hand.

Do Not Use Fabric Softeners: Avoid fabric softeners, as they can leave a residue that might affect the blanket's waterproof, breathability and moisture-wicking properties.

Velcro Closure: Before washing, securely fasten all Velcro closures. Regularly clean these closures to prevent dirt buildup and maintain their effectiveness.

Drying: After washing, hang the blanket to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as it can damage your blanket's materials and functionality.

Proper Storage: Once the rug is completely dry and clean, store it in a cool, dry place to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Day to Day Care: Brush off dirt and debris regularly to reduce the need for frequent washing. This practice helps extends your blanket's lifespan.

Proper Storage: Once your blanket is completely dry, store it in a cool, dry place to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Professional Cleaning: For heavily soiled blankets or those with unique features like waterproofing, consider professional cleaning services specialising in equine equipment.

By following these additional tips, you can ensure your Aloga blanket remains clean.

How do I fit the straps on my Aloga Blanket?

Surcingles (straps) on all Aloga blankets are adjustable to ensure a secure fit. To make sure your blanket’s surcingles are ‘just right’ use the adjustable runner to shorten or lengthen the straps. To establish the correct surcingle fit you should be able to fit a vertical palm’s width between your horse’s belly and the surcingles. Surcingles that are too tight pose the risk of rubbing while those that are to lose may be a safety hazard and at risk of getting caught up.

PRO TIP: Check surcingles of your horse’s Aloga blanket at regular weekly intervals – surcingles can ease out over time and changes in your horse’s weight can also affect how they fit.

My horse is broad chested - what style Aloga Blanket would you recommend?

For broader horses we recommend Aloga Blanket styles with our Pro Front closure. This style of front closure is available across our range of Aloga Pro Turnout blankets as the strap set up allows for more range of movement in the shoulder area, offering a more comfortable wear while grazing or in turnout for longer periods of time. The metal components of this closure are anti-rust, designed to stand up to various climatic conditions.

My horse has narrow shoulders & is fine boned - what style Aloga Blanket would you recommend?

For narrower horses we recommend Aloga Blanket styles with our Double Front closure. This type of closure is a more traditional style of front closure consisting of two male & female closures that are quick and easy to fasten. This style of front closure is ideal for most equine body shapes and particularly suitable for horses that might be narrower in their chest. The metal components of this closure are anti-rust, designed to stand up to various climatic conditions.

What is the Aloga Quality Control process?

As horse owners, we understand the precise expectations of our customers. In equestrian sports, like in business, success hinges on perfecting even the smallest details.

At Aloga our goal is to always create functional products that meet our high standards. To achieve this, we've taken control of the entire design and manufacturing process from start to finish.

Our team inspects each stage of production according to our internal quality guidelines. From the fabric, weaving, treating and dying to the eventual cutting and stitching every stage is monitored. This gives us the confidence to deliver you a product engineered to perform while allowing horses to be horses.

What does G stand for?

G stands for gram, the measurement for the weight of filling in the blanket. The higher the weight, the greater the warmth the blanket offers. However, not all fibers used in horse blankets offer the same value. Aloga Equestrian blankets are made using thermo bonded fiber fill, which is produced and treated according to our strict guidelines, ensuring lasting heat retention. Poor-quality fiber filling collapses after a short period causing blankets to lose their shape and insulation properties. Our thermo bonded fiber filling is tested to guarantee it retains its loft and thermal value over prolonged periods of use.

What does D stand for?

Denier is a unit used to measure fabric weight, affecting its strength. However, fabric performance for horse blankets depends on a variety of factors. At Aloga Equestrian, we've extensively researched, designed and tested our fabric treatments. We optimise tear strength by considering denier weight alongside yarn selection, treatment, and manufacturing techniques, ensuring strong blankets without unnecessary weight.

What does T stand for ?

The letter 'T' denotes the thread count per square inch of fabric. At Aloga Equestrian, we carefully choose the optimal 'T' value for the linings we use to achieve our liners' resilient, sleek, and non-abrasive finish.
