Why Care For Aloga Liners Matters
Regular cleaning and maintenance not only keep your liners fresh and continue to offer comfort to your horse during wear, correct care also helps maintain coat shine & skin health while your horse is blanketed. Dirt, sweat, and hair buildup can cause irritation, leading to discomfort for your horse.
How to Wash Your Aloga Liners
Before washing, always read the care instructions provided with your Aloga Liner to ensure you’re using the correct cleaning methods.
Start by removing the Aloga Liner from the compatible blanket. Our liners are compatible with all turnout & stable blankets in the Aloga Pro Collection. Where possible lie the liner flat on a smooth surface with the inner most side facing upwards. Use a firm brush to help dislodge hair or grim that can become trapped in or around stitch lines. This can become increasingly problematic during shedding season when the winter coat is shedding out. When you are satisfied with what you have removed, give the liner a good shake out of doors so all remaining particulars can be freed.
Aloga Liners can be washed in both industrial and domestic washing machines at 30º. Do not overfill the washing machine and allow for adequate space for the liner to move freely. Wash on a gentle cycle and use a mild, non-detergent soap designed for horse blankets to protect the fabric’s properties. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can compromise the liner’s breathability.
If a suitable washing machine is not available, soak the liner in a large tub or bucket with cool water and mild soap. Gently agitate, rinse thoroughly, and squeeze out excess water without wringing. Ensure all soap residue is removed, as leftover detergent can cause skin irritation and affect the liner’s performance.
Aloga Liners must be allowed to Air dry only. Never use a tumble dryer, as heat can damage the fabric and shrink the liner. Hang in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors or in a tack room with good airflow. Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods to prevent fading or fabric degradation.
Spring Storage
If you are washing your Aloga Liner post seasonal changes ensure your liner is completely dry before deciding to store it away. Damp fabric can lead to mildew and odors, affecting the longevity and the performance of your liner for future use.
Fold the liner neatly and where possible use a breathable storage bag or container to keep it clean and protected from dust and pests. If you have multiple liners for different seasons, labeling or color-coding them can make selecting the right one quick and hassle-free.
A Stitch in Time
As the saying goes, a stitch in time saves nine. As the fabric the Aloga Liners are constructed from embossed anti-static, antibacterial lining which is smoother and lighter than the outer fabrics used in blankets. Regularly check areas of wear and repair minor damages promptly. Having a selection of liners and rotating them based on use or weather conditions to keep them fresh helps maintain their freshness and the quality of your horse’s coat & skin.
Properly washing and storing your Aloga Liners will extend their lifespan and keep your horse comfortable throughout the changing seasons. By following these care tips, you’ll ensure that your liners remain in excellent condition, ready for use whenever you need them.
