Why don't our Aloga Blankets have gussets?

The answer is quite simple: we do not need them.

Gussets were introduced into horse blankets many years ago to create freedom of movement and prevent shoulder rubbing. Unfortunately, the gusset can often create more problems than it solves, particularly with lightweight blankets.

The opening created by the gusset at the shoulders encourages the neck of the blanket to fall backward, often putting pressure on the horse's withers. In addition, as the neck of the blanket moves backward, more pressure is placed on the front of the blanket.

The Aloga blanket was created with an ergonomic design, combining our understanding of fabrics and contoured patterns specific to each blanket model and size. The result is a superbly balanced blanket that allows your horse freedom of movement without pressure or rubbing.
